David Orr Golf Blog - Find Out What I've Been Up To

Hi and welcome to my Blog where I'll be updating you on everything about my game from where I'm playing to how I played!  I can promise you that I will include all the details - even the poor shots!

Scottish Region Fourballs - Semi-Finals

Unfortunately, Alan and I lost today 3 and 2 to Chris Kelly and Heather MacRae - worthy winners I have to say - they played great together and eventually went on to win the Tournament so congratulations to them both!

On my own ball today, I have to be honest and say that it was very much a mixed bag - some good and some poor.  I hit the ball well off the tee but the approach shots into the greens proved somewhat tricky today - my distance was out and found it tricky to judge the cross winds!

From tomorrow onwards, I'll be busy teaching and rolling out my Winter Performance Plan which, so far, has been greatly received.

The winter is a great time to knuckle down to some hard graft on my game and I'll be making changes here and there!  I've changed my clubs from Wilson to Titleist so really need to get to work on woods/irons and wedges and sharpen them up!  Once next season comes around in March/April 2012, I'll be ready to shoot some good scores and hopefully climb up the order of merit.

I also have some corporate days booked out in the diary which is great - it's a real pleasure for me to meet new people and help them with various aspects of their games.  At the same time, it's good for those clients to get together and forge good relationships going forward in a relaxed atmoshphere.

As I like to keep up the competitive edge over the winter, I've registered again to play in the Ayrshire Alliance - next game is on 9th November at Western Gailes.

I'm looking forward to seeing the progress in my own game come on and also my pupil's games too - all of them have worked really hard on their games this year and know that with continued commitment over the winter, they'll see the results!

Sprint series Final- Dukes Course, St Andrews

Shot 76 today which did not really reflect my overall game as conditions were extremely difficult with high winds and rain - nice combination!

I'm lying 15th after the first round - another tough day tomorrow as the weather forecast doesn't seem to be too different from today - that's Scotland for you!  Tee time scheduled at 10.30am and then afterwards I'm heading down south with Paul McKechnie to play in the Skins Fourball Championship (5-7th October) - a lot of travelling tomorrow and will no doubt be a late one!

Brora - Round 2

Shot 71 today at the very picturesque Brora Golf Club in a fairly stiff wind. Not quite sure what I was looking for today but didn't quite get it going - quite frustrating as I feel I'm close to playing really well.  I have a busy couple of days coaching ahead but will certainly make sure I have the time to fit in some much needed practice!

On another note if you have never played Tain or Brora put it on the list of things to do as it's truly a stunning part of the country to play golf!!

Next event 3/4th October Sprint Series Final- Dukes Course, St Andrews.

Brora and Tain

PGA TARTAN TOUR - TAIN: TOURNAMENT 27 SEPTEMBER

A disappointing 74 at Tain today - bogeyed four of the last five holes in a really strong wind.  I found my pace was out again on the greens and a few loose shots I made some time to work on things this afternoon and am very keen to get it going round Brora tomorrow!

PGA TARTAN TOUR - ROXBURGH GOLF CLUB: TOURNAMENT 23 SEPTEMBER

Finished with a score of 72 today level par for a 10th place finish - I struggled with my pace on the greens today.  On a positive note, I drove the ball really well and remained very patient.
