I play off 17.0. Despite some golfing ability, inconsistency has always dogged me. Self-fixing was the order of the day until, in June of 2011, I accepted that would never succeed. It was then I attended David Orr's Short Game Clinic. The improvement in my game has not only been obvious but measureable:- at the beginning of September I won The East Renfrewshire Golf Club Handicap Championship. My goal is now single figures and I know continued, regular tuition will help me get there - Marco Guarino, Sept 11
"Delighted with improved quality of strike, coupled with the simple thought process - 100 yards in is a bit more fun".
- Paul McKellar, Previous Walker Cup Player, Glasgow
David has been coaching my son and I since last November. We had both never held a club before, let alone hit a ball. With David's great coaching skills and incredible patience, he has allowed us to build our game to a level where we are now confident enough to go out and play.
His patience and insight with my son has been fantastic and with Oskars recent coaching sessions have come massive improvements in his game. As for myself, I have many lessons to learn in my golfing journey and hope that David will be able to continue coaching me on my way. - Stuart Wilkie & Oskar (age 11)
As a complete beginner David has built up my knowledge of and confidence in Golf and have recently joined my local club. My goal at the time was to be able to accept an invite for a round of golf with a few friends without embarrassing myself! However after an initial six lessons I was amazed by the speed in which my swing was built up - the lessons are always in a friendly and relaxed style, which to me are conducive to learning. During on-course lessons David has worked on the technique of my short game using a variety of clubs to play chip shots, and learning how to get out of bunkers.
- Robert Bruce
I would highly recommend a coaching session with David. A session with David covering both the technical and psychological aspects of the game helped me go on and win the Club Championship at East Renfrewshire this year.
- Gordon Young
Having played a great deal of golf over the last 10 years with David, I have no hesitation in saying he has undoubtedly one of the finest wedge games that I have had the pleasure of witnessing. The quality of strike combined with pin point distance control has helped him to consistently be one of the leading players in Scotland and win a host of high profile events.
His input into my own wedge game has been significant and he has helped me to better understand the importance of being a master of the scoring clubs."
- Paul McKechnie, Leading Tartan Tour Professional
"I have known David for many years since we played together in the Scottish boys and youths teams. In 2010, after becoming frustrated with my golf, I arranged a few lessons with David and the results were instant. He kept things very simple and, in particular, my short game has improved with his help - 100 yards and in I now look forward to!!
We are now beginning to work on the mental side of the game and have signed up to his "winter performance programme" - looking forward to 2012! In summary I would recommend David to all level of golfers - from beginner to professional". - Andrew Farmer
"David has a great ability to focus on the basic elements of the swing. His clear and simple approach has helped me to improve my swing and ball striking. This, coupled with David's advice on course management, provides a more complete and inspiring lesson". - Tom Paterson
“As a guy who has been striving for many years to reach the dizzy heights of mediocrity, I can only say that David has massively improved my game. It is amazing the enjoyment you can derive from getting the odd par and regularly hitting the greens on a par 4 in 2 - something that was beyond me until David took a hold. A long way to go yet but I have every confidence in David and achieving further progress”.
- Allan McNeilage
“Personally I found David’s teaching to be practical and effective. Our clients found his approach equally beneficial. The experience he has as a tournament professional added additional insight to what was already an enjoyable and from our perspective, an effective client event.” - Murray Shaw – Senior Partner, Biggart Baillie LLP
I have been seeing David for 12 months and in that time I have reduced my handicap from 7.4 to 4.4.
What I like about David is that he does not get too technical and is very easy to understand. The biggest improvement has been in my short game.
David has got me excited again about this game I have been playing for 40 years. - Anand Poddar
Having struggled with my wedge game for a few seasons, I went to see David in October and signed up to his Winter Performance Plan. His teaching has been first class and my wedge game is unrecognisable from 6 months ago. It's early days but I've just had my best 2 scores consecutively in medals for the first time in 3 years. Thanks David!!
- David Miller (Handicap 1)
Having not played much golf over recent years with the arrival of two kids, my handicap went up and therefore my enjoyment of the game decreased hugely. Although I had known David for many years, I had never gone to him for a lesson. During this winter I decided to do so, and it was a fantastic decision. David's teaching technique was exactly what I was looking for - while he is extremely knowledgable, I find his teaching technique to be not too technical, and he has an excellent way of communicating his ideas and perceptions in an easily understandable way.
I would thoroughly recommend David as a golf coach to anybody.
- Steven Alexander
I have taken a number of lesson over the years from different teaching professionals but have now had several lessons with David and have found him to be an excellent teacher.
He communicates clearly, explaining concepts - how and why they should be executed. He has also passed on much of his experience as a player which I have found invaluable in developing my game. I would thoroughly recommend David - he's an excellent teacher!
- Thomas Kerr
It has been a pleasure discussing my goals and subsequently formulating a plan to individualistically suit my busy family and business life. David's teaching methodology is simplistic which, if you are prepared to work at it, very effective. Being taught by a winner only encourages winning! - Robert Jenkins
Having struggled with my golf game for a number of years David has
provided a new focus and understanding of the golf swing which led to improved technique and medal scores.
David offers insight at all levels and makes individual and group sessions, whether with friends or colleagues, enjoyable and fun.
- Graeme Cullen, Maven Capital
David Orr - in not only my opinoin, but the very many people he coaches in golf is fastly becoming the best in the country, if not the best already.
His manner and the ease of explanation makes him stand out from the rest, he immediately gets results. He is the most talked about teaching pros in this region, because everyone that uses him, whether that is a one off lesson or on a regular basis, where feedback is always 'what a difference David Orr has made to my game' - Alan Christie
I was struggling with my game a wee bit, I went from a 8 handicap to 10 in the space of a few months, my head was in the gutter to say the least, - I needed some help.
A friend recommended i get a lesson from David Orr, so away I went.
David quickly noticed some things I could improve on in my golf swing and gave me some advice and drills to work on.
My next 2 medals I won and came second and went back down to 8 !
David is the nicest guy you could meet, he gave me just enough information to keep me hungry and made me WANT to get better. He didn't say too much, but what he did say resonated and worked great for me. I highly recommend David Orr for golf tuition"
